Professionals, retirees, and golf-lovers alike flock here for the great play. It’s just one more reason golfers, house hunters, and vacationers have to get down here, for good. With the help of local PGA professionals and experienced Charleston golfers, we’ve compiled a list of the five best Charleston golf courses for those looking for a great experience!

Daniel Island Club

The Daniel Island Club is the only private club in the country with a course, Beresford Creek, designed by Tom Fazio and another course, Ralston Creek, designed by Rees Jones. Their stunning courses provide golfers with a challenging, strategic experience in the midst of gorgeous marshland. The Daniel Island Club’s service is second to none, led by PGA professionals, award winning chefs, and many workers perfecting the art of service.

Tucked away just outside of Charleston in an intimate, ultra-private setting, is Yeamans Hall. Ranked as the #64 best golf course in the world by Golf Digest, it does not disappoint. Seth Raynor originally designed this course with wide, square greens and challenging bunkers, while their groundskeepers keep the course firm for consistent and great play. Charleston golfers feel that playing at Yeamans is like stepping back in time.

Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Gorgeous Kiawah Island houses five public championship golf courses that make up the stuff of legends. Their Ocean Course is one of only four courses in the U.S. that has hosted every major PGA event in the country. The Ocean Course is also named at the #25 best golf course in the world by Golf Digest. Their entire facility boasts ocean views, while their architecture keeps prevailing ocean winds at bay. There are also two private courses with caddies and amazing conditions, set against a beautiful marsh backdrop.

Bulls Bay Club

With an elevated landscape reminiscent of Scotland and Ireland, breathtaking views, and challenges of the Lowcountry environment, the Bulls Bay Club creates a unique, pure golf experience. Their clubhouse sits on the highest elevation, with breathtaking, 360° views of the marsh and tidal creeks!

The Links at Stono Ferry

This semi-public golf club features a picturesque 18-hole experience that a lot of tourists miss on their way through town. Loved by locals for it’s special prices, good food, and beautiful landscape, the Links at Stono Ferry is one course not to be missed. The back nine backs up to the Stono River, giving the course its natural beauty. Throughout the course, Stono Ferry has placed historical symbols marking the Revolutionary War battle that actually took place there. Our favorite is the Revolutionary-era cannon on the 12th hole.
